Our Approach
At Conscious we create a safe space where awareness, growth, and healing are fostered. We believe that utilizing a holistic approach to wellness that considers the physical, emotional, mental, relational, cultural, and spiritual components of your wellbeing is the most effective path to lasting change.
We are a practice founded by minority Calgary-based therapists with multicultural backgrounds, and value services that are culturally conscious, inclusive, and informed.
What is Therapy?
The benefits of counselling and therapy for mental health are well documented, but we understand it can be difficult to know whether counselling is right for you. Let’s start by clarifying what counselling is and what it is not:

only for very serious problems

Why Choose Conscious Counselling?
Counselling can look many different ways, but we believe the best type of therapy is therapy that considers the whole person. When we work with you we not only consider your mental health, but the context you are coming from. This means we value your cultural context, your relationships, your physical health, your emotional wellbeing, and spirituality. We evaluate what is currently happening, but we work with you to understand where your concerns began, the impact they are having on you, and equip you to provide enduring change.
Our team is equipped to work with children (as young as 2 years old!) and their parents, youth, individuals, and couples. We are able to offer unique options such as Theraplay (an attachment based Play Therapy) culturally-sensitive options that consider ethnic diversity and racialization, as well as faith based counselling.

In-person and remote options
Our office is located in Douglasdale, SE Calgary. Can’t make it into the office? No worries – we’ve got you covered with teletherapy. We are happy to be able to offer virtual sessions to residents in the greater Alberta area, or to Calgary residents who experience barriers to coming into an office, or who simply prefer to do therapy from the comfort of their home.

Your therapist will send you a link where you will be able to set up a profile, allowing you to view appointment times, session receipts, and forms from your therapist. Talk to your therapist about booking a time to come into our in person office, or book an online session. Our therapists are available for any questions you might have and to support you in getting set up.
